You may have noticed that recently our website has been ranking super strong for searches of not just the individual songs, but for individual members of the group. This is the result of something called search engine optimization, for which we have Bob Sakayama to thank. He's the CEO of the legendary TNG/Earthling, who also happens to own a recording studio in NYC. But most importantly, he's a huge fan. And he's probably the reason you're reading this post right now. Anyway, we are also fans of Bob and are indebted to him for the spotlight he put on us via Google.

The James Douglas Show

The James Douglas Show

The James Douglas Show, a pioneering band in the genres of alternative soul and new-school funk is a national touring act attempting to bring an old-school creative mentality to a new breed of artists.  Currently based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, The James Douglas Show has garnered national attention not only because of their ability to entertain audiences of almost every demographic, but also because of their tight and precise musicianship and incredible work ethic.  The James Douglas Show’s music not only appeals to listeners of R&B, funk, soul, and old-school, but the band has also won over fans of pop, blues, rock, and even country!

Formed in 2002, The James Douglas Show quickly gained popularity in the Albuquerque area’s club scene.  By performing a combination of original material in addition to their own energetic arrangements of cover songs, The James Douglas Show’s fan base grew exponentially in the first two years of its existence.  The band’s first demo disc, It’s All About You, was a critical success as an independent release.  The title track of the album became the band’s first single, and two other tracks, “Am I Losing You” and “Forever,” held the positions of #1 and #2 on MP3.com’s Urban and Adult Contemporary charts.  The band toured the southwestern United States, capped by performances at the Urban Network Summit in Palm Springs, California, and the famous Antone’s music club in Austin, TX.

In 2006, The James Douglas Show released their highly anticipated and critically acclaimed debut album, Garden City Music, on Bungalo/Universal Records.  Songs on the album range from the funky yet sexy “Baby I Know” to the emotional and thought-provoking “Remember Me” to the greasy southern jam of the album’s title track, “Garden City.”  “Baby I Know” and “Garden City” went on to become singles on Clear Channel radio stations, and are still in rotation on satellite and syndicated radio.

Shortly after the release of Garden City Music in 2006, The James Douglas Show became the first and only R&B band to play at the world-famous Sturgis Bike Rally in South Dakota for the first annual Rock’n the Rally Music Festival.  The James Douglas Show shared the stage with such acts as Sammy Hagar, The Black Crowes, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Stevie Nicks, Nickelback, Keith Urban, Big ‘n Rich, REO Speedwagon, .38 Special, Wolfmother, and many others.  The following summer, The James Douglas Show also became the first and only R&B act to perform at the Country Jam Music Festival in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where they shared the stage with Bon Jovi, Dierks Bentley, Sarah Buxton, and several others, and performed in front of over 40,000 people.

By 2007, The James Douglas Show had become one of the most reputable and sought-after acts in the country, performing at casinos, nightclubs, and festivals across the nation.  The James Douglas Show was offered the rare opportunity to open for The Whispers on New Years Eve 2007 at the Isleta Casino Showroom in Albuquerque.  That performance was so successful, the band was invited back to open for Philadelphia soul legends The O’Jays the following year.  It became The James Douglas Show’s second sell-out show in a row on New Years Eve.

In 2008, The James Douglas Show toured as headliners for the After After Party Tour sponsored by McDonald’s Restaurants and Coca-Cola.  The James Douglas Show was a featured artist on the After After Party Music Sampler, which was released by McDonald’s nationwide in March of 2008.  Also in 2008, The James Douglas Show made their debut performances at Country Jam and Rock Jam in Grand Junction, Colorado, as well as a return performance to Country Jam in Eau Claire.  They shared the bill with some of the biggest names in music including Carrie Underwood, Poison, Kid Rock, Tim McGraw, Sugarland, Jason Aldean, Clay Walker, Dokken, Josh Turner, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Starship, and many others.  By the end of 2008, The James Douglas Show had performed 117 individual performances and had toured over 80,000 miles. The James Douglas Show’s relentless tour schedule earned them New Mexico Family Magazine and Guide’s distinction and a national reputation as “Albuquerque’s Hardest Working Band.”

On November 4, 2008, The James Douglas Show released their highly-anticipated second album, The New Black.  The album featured contributions from some of the biggest names in music, including platinum producer Hector Delgado (Eminem, D12, Andre Crouch, CeCe Winans, Angie Stone), award-winning producer and band member Mike Cee (Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, DMX, Baby Bash), guitarist and producer Pocket (Erykah Badu, Wicked Wisdom), R&B sensation and noted producer A.B., local R&B staple David Wade, and many others, as well as original compositions from The James Douglas Show.  The New Black marked the band’s second release on Bungalo Records which, at the time, was one of the most noted urban music labels in the world.  The New Black was a featured release in the R&B/Soul category on iTunes for five straight weeks.  The album’s first single, “U,” was also featured on iTunes and was one of the top five ringtone downloads of the year off of the Bungalo label.  A music video for “U” was released in November, and has been featured on YouTube and several music television shows.  Another single from the album, “What About Me,” has also received major airplay on syndicated radio.

In 2009, The James Douglas Show was nominated for four New Mexico Music Awards, which were judged by some of the biggest names in the music industry including jazz saxophonist Gerald Albright, Hollywood producer Danny Kortchmar, Hootie and the Blowfish guitarist Mark Bryan, famed Nashville songwriter Radney Foster, and Grammy and Academy Award winner Will Smith. Despite some very stiff competition, The James Douglas Show took home the New Mexico Music Award for Adult R&B Song of the Year for “U.”

Later in 2009, the band embarked on the biggest tour in their history, covering 17 states in just under three months. The band also returned to all three Country Jam and Rock Jam festivals, and was a main stage headliner at the Rock Jam festival in Grand Junction, Colorado.  The James Douglas Show shared the stage with Huey Lewis and The News, Los Lonely Boys, Saving Abel, Puddle of Mudd, and the all-star band Chickenfoot.

In the fall of 2009, The New Black was added to the official Grammy ballot for consideration for nominations in six categories including Best Traditional R&B Vocal, Best Pop Vocal, Best Packaging, Best Album Engineering (Non-Classical), and the prestigious honor of them all, Album of the Year.  The Recording Academy also added The James Douglas Show as a Grammy consideration for Best New Artist.

The James Douglas Show is currently in production of their fourth studio album, which promises to be the band’s boldest effort yet.  The band has summoned the services of some of the industry’s elite, yet in keeping to the band’s aura, committed to creating a masterpiece that is creative, fun, and intense, a testament to the band’s amazing live performances.  The first single from the new album, "Wonderfully," is currently in rotation on commercial radio nationwide, and will be available on iTunes in June.  In addition, The James Douglas Show is collaborating with legendary Digital Underground rapper Money B. for an upcoming album and live project in 2011 known as "The K.N.N.," and the band is also partnering for a project with world-renown vocalist and reality TV star Romeo Johnson for a new album and live tour!  The James Douglas Show is also the house band for the new hit late-night talk show "The After After Party," which stars "Breaking Bad" actor Steven Michael Quezada and airs every Friday night on the CW Network.

The James Douglas Show is an ensemble with the extraordinary gift of being able to capture listeners and audiences, not recognizing the boundaries of genres or demographics.  No matter where the band plays, whether it is a small club or a huge festival, The James Douglas Show never ceases to entertain and inspire, delivering consistent and energetic performances every night.  The James Douglas Show is positive proof that raw talent, creativity, energetic performing, tight and precise musicianship, and an unwavering work ethic are still constant and beneficial factors in the ever-changing music industry.

PRESS RELEASE

“VEGAS HOT” Sizzles With Lectrosonics

by Super User
Published: 12 December 2013

Digital Hybrid Wireless® technology used in video production

JamesDouglasShow

Las Vegas. NV – December 2013… Six-time Grammy considered funk band and InGrooves recording artist, The James Douglas Show, consisting of James Douglas (lead vocals), Mike Cee (keyboards, vocals), Zach Fowler (bass, vocals), Marco Nunez (drums, vocals), Delmone Taylor (saxophones, EWI, keyboards, vocals), and Jessie Martinez (lead guitar) recently completed production of their new video, Vegas Hot. Set in Sin City, the video draws upon the party hard, let-it-all-go mentality that Las Vegas is known for.  During the video’s shoot, the producers of SyFy Network’s Naked Vegas TV show crossed paths with the band and were so impressed with what they saw that they asked to incorporate a segment into their show—and it all came together with the use of Digital Hybrid Wireless technology from Rio Rancho, NM-based Lectrosonics.

Drummer and band leader Marco Nunez reports that the James Douglas Show is a regular user of Lectrosonics equipment. “We use Lectrosonics wireless gear for everything we do,” says Nunez. “We work with three custom finished HH handheld transmitters, the IS400 wireless beltpack instrument system is used by Zach, Jesse, and Delmone, and the Quadra IEM system, which handles our in-ear monitoring, includes three M4T transmitters and five M4R receivers. Lectrosonics gear has extreme range and clarity. You can go outside most venues and still not experience any compromised sound quality. Equally important, the Lectrosonics gear is built really tough. We’ve played over 1000 shows and have never had anything break. It is truly the best wireless equipment in the business.”

During the making of Vegas Hot, the band’s Lectrosonics gear was seemingly everywhere and this attracted the attention of the Naked Vegas crew. “When we arrived on set for the filming of our video, the crew of Naked Vegas noticed that all our wireless gear was Lectrosonics. I told the sound guy that we used Lectrosonics exclusively and he simply said, ‘It’s the best.’ That made me feel great! It’s always good to know you’re using a product that the whole industry holds in such high esteem. All these pros can’t be wrong!”

The use of the Lectrosonics Quadra IEM system is particularly important to the band. The equipment’s operation is fast and intuitive, and this makes the Quadra a hit with everyone, as James Douglas, the band’s lead vocalist, reports, “The sound of the Quadra is amazing. You simply have to hear this system to fully appreciate it. It’s like having a conversation with a friend, but in stereo. There’s no struggling to hear clearly at all—the sound comes to you, as opposed to trying to force the issue as with other systems. Secondly, the build quality is terrific. The weight of the unit conveys a solid feel and it looks beautiful. The machine work is phenomenal. This unit has changed my life in terms of how we approach live performances.”

The James Douglas Show brings a vibrant fusion of their signature “Funk-n-Soul-n-Rock & Roll” flavor to everything they do. Nowhere is this signature trait more visible than in Vegas Hot and the segment that appears in Naked Vegas. The episode that includes the James Douglas Show segment is titled Devil Pirates and Aliens. It aired on November 5th and is now available via video on demand.

Before shifting his attention back to the business of the band’s upcoming appearances, Nunez offered these parting thoughts, “We couldn’t be happier with our Lectrosonics gear. It always works and it’s easy to use. We can count on this equipment every time—we just turn it on and go. As to all the thought and technology that goes into the equipment, we leave that to the folks at Lectrosonics!”

The James Douglas Show to Release New Album “9” March 12th, 2013

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB)

The James Douglas Show (The JDS) is set to release their latest album recording “9” on March 12th, 2013 via Arkiteks Music Group/Ingrooves/Fontana. The album will be made available at midnight on iTunes and is accessible for pre-order now on The James Douglas Show website.

Possessing a flamboyant musical style of funk-n-soul-n-rock&roll, “9” is the third record written as a group by The James Douglas Show and produced by Marco Nunez and Mike Cee of production duo, The Arkiteks. The album features “Wonderfully" as its first single, a smooth soulful mid-tempo track already heating up radio charts in Triple A and Non-Com formats in the Southwest region. As a follow up, The JDS chose the touching and expressive, “Love Song,” a gorgeous ballad whose video was recently released on Valentine’s Day. Rounding off the album, up-tempo songs such as “Touch Away” and the electrifying rock infused “Supastar” is a wonderful showcase of the band’s musical versatility and talent.

"The 9 record is the natural evolution of The JDS,” said James Douglas. “We have made a record without genre's, label's or boundaries. Everything for everyone! Whatever it is - sing, dance, laugh, live!!"

The “9” album was recorded in their hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico at The Draftroom and also at the Music Group Studios in Van Nuys, CA. In support of the new album, The JDS has scheduled tour stops in Santa Fe, Boise, Denver, Reno, San Francisco, Sacramento and Los Angeles; as well as a planned appearance at the SXSW Music Festival. “9” is the first album from The James Douglas Show since their popular sophomore album Garden City Music. If the Garden City Music album captured the heart and soul of the Southwest culture and sound, then the “9” album will surely claim it.

Hello again!

We must apologize for taking so long to get this to you. The James Douglas Show website has been in the process of switching servers, and as a result, updates have been slow to come. At the end of this message, there is a note about The James Douglas Show’s performance schedule on the website…be sure to read it!

April is here, and summer is just around the corner, which means that things are about to get extremely busy for the hardest working band out of Albuquerque, The James Douglas Show! April will be a somewhat slow month in terms of live performances compared to the whirlwind schedule the band had in the first three months of the year. However, this does not mean the band is taking April off, because…

THE NEW BLACK is coming soon! No…this is not an April Fools joke. Tracking for The James Douglas Show’s highly anticipated sophomore album is slated for completion by the end of April, which means that the album should be ready for release in early- to mid-May! The new album will be available in numerous formats. If you’re a fan of the old-school method of going out and buying the CD in the store, the album will be available in that format. If you’re trying to save gas money and prefer to buy the album online, the hardcopy will be available at CDBaby.com, or if you prefer the digital format, you will be able to download the album on iTunes and Rhapsody! Plus, if you come out to one of the band’s live shows, you’ll be able to pick up a card which contains a code that you can use to download the entire album directly from The James Douglas Show’s website!

The James Douglas Show, in affiliation with The Arkiteks Music Group, is proud to announce the opening of their new studio! The final phase of tracking for the new album, in addition to portions of mixing and mastering, will take place at this new studio in downtown Albuquerque! For security reasons, the exact location of the studio will be kept confidential except to those who use it. This is an exciting new development for The James Douglas Show, as well as all artists affiliated with The Arkiteks. As with the old studio, the new studio will be run in the same format, utilizing everything from Digital Performer to Reason and everything in between. Master producer and J.D.S. keyboard player Mike Cee, along with Pro-Tools certified engineer and J.D.S. sound engineer Tre Lucero, will regulate the studio. The new place features a vocal booth, master control room, rehearsal studio, and everything needed for a professional music-making environment.

The James Douglas Show is excited to announce that The After After Party tour is just around the corner! The tour is slated to begin on May 13. What makes it even more exciting is that the band will be touring with good friend and phenomenal R&B singer/songwriter AB, as well as hip-hop/soul singer David Wade! Both AB and David Wade made contributions to The James Douglas Show’s new album…sharing the stage with them will be a real treat! Tour dates are currently being booked at some of the best music clubs in the nation! In addition, keep a lookout for AB’s new album, which is expected to be released right around the same time The J.D.S.’s album hits the shelves! Keep checking The James Douglas Show’s website at www.thejamesdouglasshow.com for updated tour itinerary!

If you haven’t picked up your free copy of The After After Party music sampler from McDonald’s yet, we have just one question…WHY NOT??? IT’S FREE!!! To order, just go to www.theafterafterparty.com, or you can grab one at any of The James Douglas Show’s live performances! The James Douglas Show is a featured artist on the sampler, which also contains contributions from David Wade, Miss Issa, Sol Fire, Ill Nino, Wicked Wisdom, Honore, and a slew of others! In addition, keep an eye out for the NEW After After Party sampler, which is on target for a June release! The new sampler will also include The James Douglas Show, plus a host of other artists! Also, check out the new and improved website for The After After Party at www.theafterafterparty.com!

For those of you who have not checked out The James Douglas Show’s live performance schedule lately, it may be a good idea to get caught up at www.thejamesdouglasshow.com. The band will be staying in New Mexico in April to complete work on the new album, but the band will be performing at Isleta Casino and Our Place II during the month, as well as some private functions, festivals, and one-offs in the local area! However, things will start to get REALLY interesting in May! In addition to the start of The After After Party tour, The J.D.S. will make a return to The Brickhouse in Arvada, as well as spending some time in California! Then, the summer touring season begins!!! The James Douglas Show will return to the midwest to play several festivals, and dates are already in the works for a trip to the southern United States (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, etc.)! It is going to be an extremely busy summer for the band, so stay up to date by visiting www.thejamesdouglasshow.com frequently!

The James Douglas Show is asking for your support in two pieces of very important legislation which supports the rights of music creators. These two pieces of legislation are H.R. 4789 (for the House of Representatives) and S. 2500 (for the United States Senate). These two bills combined are known as The Performance Rights Act. This act will allow musicians, artists, producers, and others who contribute to recordings to earn fair compensation when their work is performed on terrestrial radio (also known as “commercial radio,” which are typical radio stations that broadcast from antennae, and rely on sales and advertising as their primary source of funding, as opposed to satellite radio which makes their money solely on subscribers). While internet, satellite, and cable radio compensate all music creators for broadcasting sound recordings, terrestrial radio has enjoyed an unfair exemption. H.R. 4789 and S. 2500 close that loophole. These bills also put the U.S. in line with the rest of the developed world, where music creators are fairly compensated. H.R 4789 and S. 2500 have other provisions important to the music community. Songwriters are protected in the legislation so the new right for sound recordings can not adversely affect the current royalty songwriters receive. Also, small and noncommercial radio stations are given an accommodation so the new royalty will not be burdensome for independent and community supported radio. Passing these bills is an important step to stopping what has become a common illegal practice in radio, payola. These bills promote the fair treatment of America’s hard-working and talented music creators. The music industry is already in a harsh struggle because of the practices of terrestrial radio. Help end the struggle, and help us to get real music back to the listeners. Contact your State Representative and State Senator, and urge them to sponsor or co-sponsor H.R. 4789 and S. 2500. The future of music depends on you!

The James Douglas Show thanks your for your continuing support! Please continue to support live music, especially original music, and the incredible talents of the musicians who create it! We hope to see you soon!

* The James Douglas Show’s performance schedule on the website has been updated. However, with the switching of servers, there is now a glitch in the performance dates section of the website. As such, dates that are posted on the website are not in date order, but rather in the order of which they are posted on the site. For example, the performances at the El Rey Theater, House of Blues in Anaheim, and B.B. Kings in Universal City are now at the top of the performance date section because they are the most recent postings, however, the next performance date is at Our Place II in Albuquerque on April 18 and 19. We are working to fix that problem as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can keep up with The James Douglas Show’s schedule on the website (just not in date order), or if you would like to view The James Douglas Show’s schedule in date order, you may visit bassist Zach Fowler’s MySpace site at www.myspace.com/zachfowlermusic until The James Douglas Show’s site is back in order.

:: Hello to All!

Posted on March 5, 2008

Hello Again!

March is here, so it’s time to update all our incredible fans about what’s going on in the world of Albuquerque’s hardest-working band, The James Douglas Show! As always, there is a lot to get you informed about.

To begin, The After After Party CD sampler is in full swing, and is available through several means. The sampler can be picked up at participating McDonald’s Restaurants by ordering any Value Meal after 6:00 p.m.! Another way to get a hold of the new sampler is by going to www.theafterafterparty.com and placing your order online…the CD will be mailed to your door! Of course, The James Douglas Show’s preference is if you come out to one of their many performances and pick up a free copy of the sampler directly from the band! The sampler is available at ALL J.D.S. performances, and the guys in the band would be happy to sign them for you! No matter which manner you choose to get the CD, make sure to grab a copy! It features some great music from some of the best talent in the nation, and the best part is that it is absolutely FREE!

The James Douglas Show, in conjunction with its management, The Arkiteks Music Group, is teaming up with Annex Projekt Creative (APC) for what promises to be some great promotional and marketing items in the coming months! APC is a Los Angeles-based company focused on the “public relations” end of the music business as performance and release promotion, marketing, sponsorship, licensing, artist relations consulting, event planning, and much more. Other clients of APC (past and present) include Randy Jackson, Tim McGraw, Dean Markley Strings, Warner Bros., and countless others. Both The James Douglas Show and The After After Party sampler are thrilled to be working with APC! For information about Annex Projekt Creative, please go to www.myspace.com/annexprojektcompany.

As you’ve probably been able to tell by visiting The James Douglas Show’s website recently, the tour schedule has become somewhat erratic and unpredictable as of late. Although a booking agency has proven to be a blessing for The James Douglas Show, it certainly makes things interesting when it comes to changing things around. We do apologize for the frequent and spastic changes in the schedule, and would like to remind you that the most up-to-date information about The James Douglas Show’s performance dates are at their website at www.thejamesdouglasshow.com. That schedule is updated as soon as dates are confirmed or changes occur.

After a very successful two weeks of performances in the band’s hometown of Albuquerque, The James Douglas Show is once again heading out on the road. March 11 will mark the beginning of the band’s debut week at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota (yup…that’s right, the band is going to Minnesota in March…they love playing music THAT much)! If you’re in the area of the Twin Cities, make your way a few miles north on I-35 to the Grand Casino to see the band play in the Silver Sevens Lounge! The James Douglas Show will perform six straight nights at the casino, which also includes a special St. Patrick’s Day performance on Monday, March 17! The James Douglas Show heads back to Albuquerque the next week for another series of performances in the Duke City to finish out the month of March! Check www.thejamesdouglasshow.com for performance dates and information!

As you may have been able to guess by now, The James Douglas Show’s new album is no longer on track for a March release. Because of The James Douglas Show’s extremely busy tour schedule, the band is doing its best to consolidate whatever time they can to write and finish the album. The New Black now has a tentative release date of late May or early June of 2008. HOWEVER, The James Douglas Show is eager to let you hear music from the upcoming album! So, if you go to The James Douglas Show’s MySpace site at www.myspace.com/thejamesdouglasshow, you can have a sneak peak at TWO tracks from the upcoming album, “It’s Alright” and “The Little Payback.” Please be aware that neither one of these two tracks are completely finished…they are ROUGH DRAFT mixes only, so the album version will probably sound very different from the tracks currently posted, but the band wants to give The James Douglas Show fans an advanced idea of what to expect from the upcoming album. In addition, fans can also get a sneak peak of some new material at The James Douglas Show’s live performances!

Stay up to date with The James Douglas Show by logging on to www.thejamesdouglasshow.com, or if you prefer the shorter version, www.gotjds.com. Also, visit The James Douglas Show on MySpace at www.myspace.com/thejamesdouglasshow, and at Facebook by going to www.facebook.com (Search: The James Douglas Show)!

The James Douglas Show proudly uses and exclusively endorses Westone In-Ear Monitors. Go to www.westone.com/music or visit them at MySpace at www.myspace.com/westonemusic! If you’re in the Albuquerque area, check out Westone products at Grandma’s Music and Sound!

Many thanks for your support! We’re looking forward to seeing you in the future!

The After After Party

In late-2010, The James Douglas Show was hand selected by Breaking Bad star and noted New Mexico comedian and actor Steven Michael Quezada to be the house band for his new late-night comedy show to air every Friday night on the CW Network.

That show, called “The After After Party,” is New Mexico’s take on the late-night comedy format made famous by Ed Sullivan, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, David Letterman, and the new breed of hosts like Jimmy Fallon, Craig Ferguson, Conan O’Brien, and George Lopez.  Though only a half-hour in length, “The After After Party” covers a massive entertainment variety...from Steven’s brand of latin comedy, to special celebrity guests within New Mexico’s thriving film and television industry, to some of the most noted bands and musicians in the region.

With no budget, and only a select few volunteers working behind the cameras and behind the scenes, The James Douglas Show enthusiastically jumped at the opportunity to back Steven and executive producer Mark Padilla in their quest to create New Mexico’s biggest late-night program.  In less than six months, they managed to do exactly that.  “The After After Party” is now the #1 late-night talk show in New Mexico, it is the #1 show on New Mexico’s CW Network, and it is the #1 show in that time slot on ANY New Mexico television network.

The show’s success is based largely around The James Douglas Show and the interaction with Steven and the live studio audience.  Since the beginning, “The After After Party” has emphasized a fun atmosphere for both the live studio audience and the viewers at home, and it is this interaction that has caught the attention of many networks and celebrities nationwide.

In the nine months that “The After After Party” has been on the air, the show has hosted some of the biggest celebrities not just in the state, but in entertainment as a whole.  They include Wes Studi (Dances With Wolves, Last of the Mohicans, Avatar), celebrity painter Michael Ostaski, entertainment mogul Eric Martinez, Hollywood producer Brent Morris, and several of Steven’s fellow Breaking Bad actors including RJ Mitte, Dean Norris, Betsy Brandt, Javier Grajeda, Max Arciniega, Giancarlo Esposito, and Emmy Award winners Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston.

In addition, The James Douglas Show has backed many of the show’s very special musical guests including noted New Mexico vocalists Hillary Smith, Jaxon, and Mateo, noted singer and songwriter Marsh, award winning progressive rock band Illustrated Man, hip-hop acts Fat Fish, MaxSoul, Juan Gambino, Zig Zag of the NB Ridaz, and The James Douglas Show’s collaboration with Digital Underground’s Money B. called The K.N.N.

With the first season of the show nearly complete, Steven Michael Quezada and The James Douglas Show are poised for continuing success on “The After After Party,” and with the show’s appeal stretching beyond New Mexico’s borders, the second season of the show seems limitless.

The KNN

The K.N.N. is a collaborative project between legendary rapper Money B. of Digital Underground and new-school funk band The James Douglas Show.

In the late 1980's, the rap world got its first taste of the Oakland-based ensemble, Digital Underground. Influenced by the classic funk of the 70's, this group exploded into fame with their debut album, "Sex Packets," which would eventually be considered one of the most influential rap albums of all time with hits like "Doowutchyalike" and "The Humpty Dance." Many other worldwide hits would follow including "Same Song," "No Nose Job," and "Kiss You Back."

Steering the Digital Underground success story into the next decade, and even the next century, were two iconic figures of the rap world...Greg "Shock G." Jacobs, and Ron Brooks, better known as "Money B."

For twenty straight years, Digital Underground defined West Coast rap, and in those twenty years, Money B. made a name for himself as the raspy-voiced emcee behind some of hip-hop's iconic standards including Tupac Shakur's "I Get Around," and his self-proclaimed anthem, "Freaks of the Industry." Even when Digital Underground unofficially disbanded in 2008, Money B.'s grip on the music industry was set with his own production company (Mandatory Muzic), his own syndicated podcast (The Goin' Way Back Show), a successful collaboration with Wisconsin rapper Scott Knoxx called M.A.S.K., and even an adult music video magazine ("Sex In the Studio"). Money B.'s success is not only based on the platinum records on his wall, but more so by the fact that he continues to be a formidable presence in the entertainment industry.

That continuing presence in the industry is further amplified by his new project. A chance meeting with an Albuquerque-based funk band called The James Douglas Show spurred ideas of a Digital Underground-esque rap group, but backed by a live band. Money B. took to the studio with The James Douglas Show to begin recording material for this collaboration, initially called "Nu Money." However, the name of the band changed when Money B. wrote a song for the project called "The K.N.N.," an acronym for "Know-a-N***a Network." The song epitomized the band's commitment to each other and to the fans of hip-hop in its most true form, as well as the direction it wanted to go, so thus, The K.N.N. was born.

Since getting together in 2009, The K.N.N. has performed several live shows as well as television shows and promotions, and is gearing up for the release of their debut album...a collection of tracks geared not only to the fans of old school hip-hop, but the music lovers who enjoy the sound and feel of a live band! The album is propelled by hip-hop tracks backed by the energy of live instrumentation...think The Roots meets Digital Underground. The album runs the spectrum of radio-friendly dance floor crowding jams, driving funk tunes, and the hard-nosed West Coast rap that first put Money B. and his Oakland posse on the world stage. Both the album and the band's live show are VERY high energy, and the collaboration has already garnered attention among the elite in LA's music industry. There is no doubt that The K.N.N. will be getting attention worldwide.

The K.N.N.'s debut album is slated for release in early 2011!
